A Not-So-Inspirational Setting by Emily

My most recent release, Public Display of Affection, takes place in Estes Park, Colorado. I grew up near there and have many fond memories of the area. The view is well worth the drive all by itself. I always forget how breathtaking the mountains are until I get there.

Still, of all the memories I have, not a one would qualify as even close to being the inspiration for a sexy story. The majority of them are actually from the retreats I was forced to attend with my church. Three long days each year stuck in a cabin and forced to read through the Bible. Though, you put a dozen teenagers in close quarters, and we are bound to get into some trouble.

1. A friend and I were put on dishes duty and put the wrong soap in the dishwasher. We then proceeded to giggle the entire time we attempted to clean up the mess, which only got us in more trouble. 

2. A particularly rowdy group convinced my Pastor to rent American Pie. Somehow we convinced him it was a coming to age story about teenagers getting to know themselves. He actually watched the entire movie with us without turning it off. 

3. I was given permission to go find a "neighbor" who would loan us some sugar for dinner one night. The friend who left with me and I took over an hour to perform this task. Mainly because we got lost in the woods and made very little effort to find our way back. 

Let's say that most of the trouble I got in was from questioning the teachings. So, this past summer I got to resume to the exact same camp for a wedding. While I spent the whole time running around like a bridesmaid with her head cut off, it did help me to see how beautiful the place was and what a terrific backdrop it made for a romantic encounter.
