A Little Humor and Snark in Erotica Writing

Greetings! BL here, another muse from Author Sharita Lira.

Today I wanted to add a post about writing with humor and snark. Now, even in something as serious as romance and erotica writing, there’s nothing wrong with making your characters a little funny. It might be a one liner, a full riddle, or joke, or even the way you portray them in the story.

Well, me, the snarky gal in the Triad of muses make my name stand out that way. Between the 3 of us, I’m usually the one that has that snarky, smart ass mofo that annoys some and endears others. It really depends on the storyline and how they speak to me. Want examples? Okay I’ll give you two.

 In my first novella, My Lieutenant, my interracial mm romance, my character Nathan Ellerby fits that bill. Smart ass, funny, isn’t opposed to using the dirty words in all his conversations even the ones with himself. Nathan is the female version of me with some of the things he says. What makes it even better is that he’s a gay man that harbors serious issues about control in his relationships. He pairs up with a man who is used to it and the whole story revolves around him giving up the reins. Does he do it for love? You must read it to find out.

In my latest mm erotica romance, Something Fresh Served Hot, my character Jimmy LaCosta and his opposite Alex Seidling are both snarky smart asses with quick tongues. Here’s two strong minded men trying to match wits and at the same time, overcome their own personal feelings about relationships. It’s got plenty of one-liners, a lot from Alex who sets Jimmy straight on a lot of things. Read to find out.

See? Those are some serious relationship subjects with some humor and there’s more to come from this snarky wicked gal. Just stay tuned to find out.
